Our curriculum and topics

At St Swithun’s we use the International Primary Curriculum to offer our children the opportunity to study a creative curriculum.  The units are blocked into a series of weeks and children are immersed into their new topic with a ‘WOW’ day which will excite them and also provide opportunities for the teachers to find out what the children know and what they would like to find out.

To ensure that the IPC meets the needs of our learners we teach some subjects discreetly, however where possible we will ensure that there is a close link between the overarching theme and the unit of work.

Within each topic children are taught National Curriculum subjects.  They understand how what they are learning builds on what they have learnt in the past.

During your child's time at St Swithun's they will enjoy the following topics.
