Nursery
We look forward to welcoming your child as they begin their school journey. St Swithun's is a wonderful place for children where they are nurtured to begin their learning and development. Our nursery is teacher led with a team of specialist nursery staff.
As well as holding regular open days, we also welcome new families to have a tour of our school with a member of our Senior Leadership Team.
Alongside our Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, the children also take part in Little Saplings. This is our outside learning programme where the children participate in a range of outdoor learning activities using the natural world around them to explore and develop a range of skills.
The children also take part in Whole School Worship and Celebration Assemblies. Celebration assembly is held on a Friday morning. This is where children could receive a head teachers award. They will also receive their birthday certificate for the week of their birthday. The assembly is also an opportunity for children to bring in any awards from home such as swimming. On Wednesday afternoon, a small group of volunteers from Open The Book come in and share bible stories with the whole school. This is a great experience for the younger children to share time with the older children.
Every child is entitled to 15 hours free Nursery provision the term after they turn three and we take 3 intakes a year – September, January and April. Some families are entitled to 30 hours of free childcare. Dependent on availability we are able to offer those families who are entitled to 30 hours free child care full time places and where available, extra sessions can be purchased by families.
Extra sessions are charged at £16. Children are welcome to stay for lunch if they attend the morning session where they can bring in a packed lunch or sign up for school dinners. Please see our school meal page for further information.
