The Riverbank Federation

The Riverbank Federation brings together St Swithun's and John Donne, Blunham together in a partnership to provide the very best education and opportunities for our children. By sharing expertise, resources, and a common vision, we create a strong and supportive learning community where every child can flourish.
Our federation allows staff from both schools to collaborate closely, sharing ideas, strengthening teaching practice, and developing rich learning experiences. While each school maintains its own unique character and traditions, we are united by shared values and a commitment to nurturing every child academically, socially, and spiritually.
Working together enables us to broaden opportunities for pupils, enrich our curriculum, and ensure that every child benefits from the strengths of both schools. Our partnership supports professional development for staff, encourages innovation in teaching, and builds a wider community for families and children.
Our Vision
Our vision is inspired by the words:
“He is like a tree planted by streams of water,
that yields its fruit in season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.”
Psalm 1:3
This image of a tree planted by water reflects our hope for every member of our school community. Just as a tree draws strength and nourishment from the stream beside it, we believe children thrive when they are supported, guided, and nurtured.
Within The Riverbank Federation, we aim to create environments where children grow in confidence, develop their talents, and build strong foundations which will allow all children to let their light shine. We encourage resilience, kindness, curiosity, and a love of learning so that every child can flourish and reach their full potential.
Together, our schools provide a place where children are rooted in strong values, supported by caring relationships, and inspired to grow, succeed, and prosper.
